single hooks are allways better. so change your trebles over to single. first of all trbles when on the inside of the mouth stop the fish from closing and therefore they become oxygen drunk and stop fighting. single hooks also increase the fishes chance of suvival because they don't damadge the fish as much, they also mean less handling time because they are easyer to remove and they don't change the amout of fish that get off the hook before landing and they don't get as tangled in your net. all around better

AND, you will land more fish in many scenarios, especially when casting spoons like cleos and crocs from shore while salmon fishing etc...

I find that siwash hooks on my spoons land more fish than spoons with trebles. I think it comes down to better hook penetration.

your probably right about better hook penatration. the only bad thing about swiching to single hooks is changing them over, you've got to get the right size and type of hook and you have to deal with those annoying split rings. it may not be as good but it's much easyer to just leave on the ones that are there when you buy the lures.
by the way, do you ever sweeten your lures with skirting or live bait. one good tecnique for pike is if you catch a pickerel early in the day for breakfast take yarn, preferably red, and soak it in the guts. put this in a bag and put a peice on your hooks to score way more pike.

Oh I definitely agree that switching the hooks can be a real pain especially when dealing with O-rings. But I find that the pay off can be well worth the trouble.

I've never tried your trick with the walleye guts and yarn, but it sounds like a great tip.

I've thought of playing around with this idea before, especially for my spoons. I've had a number of pike spit the treble out, or when trying to get the treble out, getting one hook out and another stuck in. Never knew what size of hook would be appropriate. Any suggestions on what size of hook would be appropriate for 1 oz. spoons?
