Absolutely there is salmon in georgian bay. The nottawasaga river is one of the most infamous salmon rivers in north america and it connects to georgian bay. There is also quite a few caught on downrigging equip in the depths near giants tomb offshore of honey harbour.

I'm not sure what assumptions people are under, but Georgian Bay (Lake Huron) has salmon (Chinook, Coho) and steelhead whereas Lake Simcoe, (not a Great Lake) does not have any of the aforementioned species of fish. Lake Simcoe does however have Lake Trout.
It also has Pink salmon, maybe not many but they're there... or at least were lol. Last one I caught was in 2003 in the Nottawasaga.
