Steelhead and Salmon forum rules

  • Specific Spots: Disclosing the presence of fish in a specific pool, upstream from the mouth of any river or tributary is not permitted in the publicly viewable general discussion forum. For example, you can say "I had a great day fishing yesterday on Wilmot Creek", but we do not encourage members to say "The fish are stacked up in the pool at the CNR bridge". The latter statement should be relegated to the Tier 1 and Tier 2 reports sections, away from public view.
  • Lining Debate: "Lining", "snagging" or "flossing" fish is a hot-button topic that often ruins otherwise productive conversations. In order to keep the general discussion forum clean, helpful and productive, it is the policy of OFF that any and all "lining" conversation/debate be conducted in the "Salmonid Insanity" sub-forum.
  • Forum Etiquette: Simple - Be polite, keep it civil. All personal attacks, insults, inflammatory remarks, threats, racist remarks, trolling and otherwise rude and/or immature behaviour are strictly forbidden and will be met with disciplinary action up to and including permanent banning.

Hi am pretty new to fishing, and have not caught any salmon yet. I would like to know where and when I should fish the credit. I would also like to know what baits or lures to use and which rigs to use.

Everything you need to know is here: http://www.ontariofi...oobs-t2875.html

But just a quick recap:

where: The rocks at the mouth of the Credit... at the very end by the lake.
when: 1) Dawn, 2) Dusk, 3) Night
what to use: Little Cleos and Rapala J13s

I'll tell you what, if you live near the credit, just stop by the mouth tonight at around 7:00PM and see what lures guys are casting into the lake. Take note of the lures that people are catching them on. Most productive right now are the firetiger J13s, second most productive are chartreuse cleos.

Hope this helps.

Thats if you wanna fish the mouth which is good now until they start running. I'll keep us updated on when they start running up in good numbers. They are very easy to spot in clear water. I don't want to guess on when, but soon probably.

Go to the mouth of the Credit river like suggested and get sore arms catching big salmon!
Buy some Glow Cleo's and Rapala J-13's if you can even find them now.

Forget fishing for them in water so low and clear you can see them and they are being chased around by idiots, especially if you're new to this.

Like openfire said, if you go down to the rocks, you can see what people use and how they fish particular lures.
Good luck and let us know how you do.
Now is the time.

I would also like to know if it is the same techniques and lures when fishing the river instead of the river's mouth.
