Steelhead and Salmon forum rules

Specific Spots: Disclosing the presence of fish in a specific pool, upstream from the mouth of any river or tributary is not permitted in the publicly viewable general discussion forum. For example, you can say "I had a great day fishing yesterday on Wilmot Creek", but we do not encourage members to say "The fish are stacked up in the pool at the CNR bridge". The latter statement should be relegated to the Tier 1 and Tier 2 reports sections, away from public view.
Lining Debate: "Lining", "snagging" or "flossing" fish is a hot-button topic that often ruins otherwise productive conversations. In order to keep the general discussion forum clean, helpful and productive, it is the policy of OFF that any and all "lining" conversation/debate be conducted in the "Salmonid Insanity" sub-forum.
Forum Etiquette: Simple - Be polite, keep it civil. All personal attacks, insults, inflammatory remarks, threats, racist remarks, trolling and otherwise rude and/or immature behaviour are strictly forbidden and will be met with disciplinary action up to and including permanent banning.

13' noodle rod and salmon

the rod is rated for 2-8lb line, 1/16- 3/8oz lure - light action 13'length.

It'll be used for drifting/maybe chucking a light spinner/spoon with a spinning reel.
get the feeling I'd be best off with 8lb test spool/6lb leader (input appreciated)

What am I in for if I hook up with a chinook, is there fun to be had or would this be an expensive mistake?

it will make a good steelhead rod though.

All my fishing equipment and tackle is tested on animals.

haha

when people get into salmon fishing they have no idea how stong these fish are, they will try to cut corners all the time. good to see some asking questions before to avoid the show.

Also, unless you replace the treble hook to something smaller,thiner? and super sharp hook, Good luck trying to set a good proper hook set too.

NADO :	(03 May 2012 - 09:45 AM) Its a bit of a drive but you are right in the middle of two great rivers, the saugeen and the Notty. there are also some good rivers that I havent fished between you and the Notty as well.
