  • Specific Spots: Disclosing the presence of fish in a specific pool, upstream from the mouth of any river or tributary is not permitted in the publicly viewable general discussion forum. For example, you can say "I had a great day fishing yesterday on Wilmot Creek", but we do not encourage members to say "The fish are stacked up in the pool at the CNR bridge". The latter statement should be relegated to the Tier 1 and Tier 2 reports sections, away from public view.
  • Lining Debate: "Lining", "snagging" or "flossing" fish is a hot-button topic that often ruins otherwise productive conversations. In order to keep the general discussion forum clean, helpful and productive, it is the policy of OFF that any and all "lining" conversation/debate be conducted in the "Salmonid Insanity" sub-forum.
  • Forum Etiquette: Simple - Be polite, keep it civil. All personal attacks, insults, inflammatory remarks, threats, racist remarks, trolling and otherwise rude and/or immature behaviour are strictly forbidden and will be met with disciplinary action up to and including permanent banning.

Hi,

i am a real noob,
never fished salmon.

few people i know of went fishing at Port Hope last week and landed 3 salmons.
i have been doing some research over the week and now i am planning on going somewhere
maybe to Port Hope to try my luck.

i read in posts and websites that fishing early dawn like between 4~8 will be best so i will get up around
3am and head out. I really want to catch one..

can you guys recommend me where to catch salmon?
can i go to Port Hope? if yes where in port hope should i be at? by the pier or up in the river?

also i am plannin on buying few of those shiny lures and spoons..
just read too much here and there now i am kinda confused, but i know that it has to be
shiny and colorful to catch the salmons.

please let me know!!

yes, buy some glow in dark spoons,

don't forget a net with loooong handle.

if i remember correctly... pier at port hope was high up from the water.
