To all OFF members:
I would like to start by saying thanks to the mods and admins for keeping this site some what clean and tidy from real bad post and fouls words of advice..
I also would like to thank the members for all the great info and tips on fishing all over Ontario. id have to say reading post from you guys has helped me out alot with my fishing.. from set ups to reading waters...
And understanding what fishing is really about. since joining my fishing skills have greatly improved, once i only fished for bass pike perch ect... then i got into a few bows and it was a new start to evrything i thought i knew about fishing...
i use to call floats- bobbers. i use to think roe was only for salmon. and i never knew what a center pin or float reel was...
but with the info shared by all, I now know so much more about mastering trout fishing......

this year has been one of my best, ever in my life.... i had a saying "If i get a brown, rainbow, steelie and lake salmon i could die happy." and i have. (but not ready to die...lol)

The feeling of knowing and sharing is one of the best feeling one can have, like the saying goes,"Give a man a fish, he will eat for a day.. Teach a man to fish, he will eat forever."
What i have learned from the forums will stay with me for life.. and knowing someday that i may teach someone something new, is always a good feeling...

so once again... Thanks to all of you......
for all that you have done... good or bad...right or wrong.. a lesson was learned...

Matt.. aka LogJam..

Well said. Off has been great for me as well. I had the opportunity to meet up and go fishing with some great guys from here. It's been great to learn and share information to become better at our sport. Hope to meet more OFF members in the years to come.

Merry Christmas and good fishing all. :D

just remember to pass it forward a little....an old sportsman once said to me once we keep what we have by giving it away......knowledge and experience that is...not our hardest found hidy holes. if someone out there is struggling a bit show them the way forward . the excitement and joy you can sense in a person as they begin to unlock the finer points of sport fishing can be as rewarding as catching the fish themselves.

float goes down......rod goes up!!!

Nice to see the courtesy Matt.
I think it is instructive that in some instances our generosity is rewarded by the development of an angler who upholds the tenets of good ethical practices and stands in awe of the wonders the natural world has to offer. Furthermore this too will be passed along with Matt's mentorship.

I used to be a negative thinker towards " forums " ,and the internet in general about giving up information . Don't forget I grew up in a life without computers when I was a kid .
I learned my skills on the river by other fishermen on the river , some of which are still my friends today . I , being the only member of my family to find fishing interesting had no real teacher and needed others to show me the way . After viewing a few different " forums " and sitting back and listening if you will , I decided to include my input on this very forum because I liked what I read and what contributions were being offered - openly . I see things differently now , today is the day of internet and forums . I can give what I learned over my years of fishing to any one who appreciates it , the " forum " is really another form of teaching and educating anyone who wants to learn and therefore I too get to learn a few more tricks myself. I thank all of you as well for a truly ' great " forum and Happy Holidays and a NewYear full of Tightlines to everyone .
Dave. ( a.k.a. ) Notta Steeler

The river is forever moving and always changing .
It calms me and challenges me . It keeps me aware of everything around me .
As I sit at home waiting away the cold days of winter , a warm breeze blows my way .
A mild spell is coming ... and the river ... it calls to me ...
................................................
It calls to me softly ... whispering ... " GET YOUR ASS DOWN HERE , IT'S STEELY TIME !!! "

Good to have you aboard "NOTTA"
Likewise I have chosen this forum and am also longer in the tooth--I think you will find a healthy debate and sometimes antagonistic (yet fun and respectable) debate here. It is why I have chosen this forum as opposed to OFN.

Merry Christmas to you too bro...
