Have you ever had a friend you just can't take fishing? I'm talking about that friend that just can't clamp his jaw for two seconds! :)

I have taken my buddy who really likes to talk. I mean really likes to talk. Even off the water sometimes I want to clamp down on his windpipe until the sound stops coming out of it! I think he scares the fish! I mean I'm convinced of it because whenever I take him fishing, he doesn't shut up and nobody catches fish. I move away from him to try another spot and he will actually yell up the shore just to keep talking! I have never caught anything with this guy. Not even in my proven pools with proven lures in perfect conditions. Always come up with zilch, notta', nothing, skunked!

I go fishing with anybody else and I make out like a bandit. The only difference I can see is that fish really are sensitive to sound. Any species. People who trudge to the shore line like they are trying to alert the whole forest to their presence scare my fish off too! I find if I'm serious about catching from shore, I wear natural colors, step lightly and keep the conversation light, quiet and to a minimum. Otherwise, a guy may as well go for for beers instead because nobody is going to be landing any fish that day. :)

I do know the type of person that you are talking about, and as you said it is better to take them for beer instead of taking them fishing. These individuals will even talk to themselves if no one is close by, so I avoid taking them fishing as it destroys my day.

Lmao. my regular fishing buddy is the guy you describe. I have learned over the years that when we get to the river, I let him go his way and I go mine. We txt each other while fishing.

Maybe the fish find his topic boring and won't bite for that reason..... clamp his wind pipe .....lmao. My buddy doesn't even shut up when I tell him to shut the f65k up either but we catch fish. I have found putting on the ipod and headphones relaxing and really locks me in - just can't hear him yell get the net.....lol.

"just can't hear him yell get the net.....lol."

Gotta laugh.
My stepson was on a trip with a previous fishing partner and me, though he is not verbose in his own right he couldn't believe the serious game faces we had on and the silent intent of our focus. He calls us "the fishing Nazis..."

Have to say though when you have no fishing partner you sometimes miss the sharing of laughter, insights, invectives...

Off to mine some chrome..............solo

Cheers mates!!!

He who joyfully marches to music in rank and file has already earned my contempt. He has been given a large brain by mistake, since for him the spinal cord would suffice.

Yeah pics only show a slight glimpse into the adventure... buddies can share stories and laughter again and again. I totally understand the locked in mode - like a predator's focus to his prey.
