Does anyone have any performance info on the Angling Specialties AR reel??
Have you used one and how do you rate it.

Thanks all

this guy we call gadget up here at CW fishes with one, i'm not convinced its gonna help you catch more fish.......angling is about bait choice and presentation techniques not how much did you pay for your gear.

float goes down......rod goes up!!!

OMG.... "NO"

lol

Getting my first Centre Pin set up in a couple more months.

And unless I win the lottery, sure wont be in that kind of price range.

I've already made my mind up that the rod is only going to be 11'-13' (Tops).

Weird thing maybe for some to hear, but I just DO NOT LIKE LONG RODS! .... understand their use.... just dont like em!

Long rods were made popular by Dick Swan back in the seventies and some still use them today. I see a lot of 15 foot rods for sale, which tells me that anglers are finding that they aren't necessary or are too heavy. I think a 13 foot rod is all that is ever needed and if you are fishing small tributaries then a 10.5 or an 11.5 rod would likely be better. The AS reels are nice if you can afford them. I've. The dr heard that they are on the heavy side, but since I haven't fished one this is just hearsay . The drag would be nice in the colder months but would take away some of the pleasure of using a CP for me.

Just curious whether anyone used one--was stuck using a $75 TF Gear cp I picked up for my son to practice with (NOT TOO BAD!!!!). I rather like it.

Okay
I have had 4 go through my hands, what can I say I am a tackle junkie and if you can afford it I would go for it.
It is in a different class but it does not catch more then other reels.
Super smooth c/w excellent start up. Plus they retain there value in case that you want to sell as I did.
Heavy reels you can bat them once and it will keep going. The drag was great option to have when u are landing a fish by yourself or on those really cold days

4 1/2 offset c/w drag, great with the longer rods with the offset the reel was way in the back of the rod.

I also had the A/R I could not stand it because you could never get the spool from rotating even with reel the drag at max. It was a really frustrating reel to use.

I have also had the frogwater reel, great reel you will not see very many of them. Too light for me had to bat the reel all the time. Plus limited quantity and made locally.

Looking fo the new DeMarco reel right now hopefull I can find one.
