Well actually I never got signed in, but I was wondering if others have experienced the problem. I registered 5 days in a row and each day when I went to sign-in it had no record of my profile, so I would register again. Finally the last time I tried, it came up with a message that I was denied access to the forum. Apparently it has something to do with your IP address, but not being a techie, I have no idea what that means. The most frustrating thing is when you are denied as I was there is no way to contact anyone at the site to find out what's going on. I'm glad our site works so well. Good topics, good info, good members. All we need now is more ice...........

I suggest maybe you were haveing problems with your internet connection while signing up. Or maybe with the info you provided. What browser were you using? Because you tried to register numerous consecutive times, i imagine that alerted the mods to possible spamming.Try emptying your browser cache before attempting a retry.

I'm not part of OFN although it has been suggested to me. I just never had time to check it out and I find OFF a good forum. I have had lots of good discussions and met many good anglers here. And look forward to this in the future.
I'm far from being a "techie", very far LOL. I do know an IP address can be used to trace where your computer is. Not sure how it would apply to a fishing forum, but I am a member of a few sports gambling sites and they have contests for cash prizes. They use IP addresses to make sure the same person is not entering the same contest under multiple names. It is usually clearly specified that only one entry per computer is allowed.
As I said, I'm not sure how this would apply in this situation.

That could be it. If I didn't use the same user id each time, it may think there is more than one person from the address. Unfortunately you can't get in to have anyone clarify that for you. I agree with you. OFF is a great site and have always found members helpful. Just thought I would see what's going on at other sites. Hope to get out on Rosseau tomorrow. Got reports of 5" of ice in some of the big bays. I'll give everyone an update........

If you were banned in the past, they store your IP address and will not let you back. If you were not banned in the past then there are many other fishing forums to join without getting yourself upset.

Thanks Staffman, but I'm really not upset. I think the site is actually poorly operated and was wondering if others had experienced any similar situations. I just came across the site so to my knowledge I've never been there before let alone been banned. I plan on staying right where I am..............

LOL...I will add my 2 cents shortly. Find the community that best suits your temperament, an exclusive clique is not amenable to the generous exchange of information, ideas, criticism. I have a copy of a thread from OFN whose childishness, the need for character assassination and humiliation of new members (including younger kids who express sincere interest in the sport of angling) would make you laugh if not angry.

There are some very good folks here brother......
but if you want to pursue membership with the OFN and find it a congenial place good on ya.

Best

I know what the problem is. When you register on that site, it says you need to WAIT until your account is ACTIVATED. While your account was still unactivated, you went and made 4 more, and 5 accounts on one IP looks like a spammer.

Thanks man. So it obviously isn't very clear that is the condition nor does is stop you from going on the site immediately once you have registered. The big frustration however is when you are denied access there is absolutey no way to contact anyone to find out what's going on. Just a poorly run site in my mind. Anyway we've wasted enough air time on this. Thanks to everyone for their comments. I'm going Rainbow fishing tomorrow.

Take care...........

Don't worry, you aren't missing much. 99% of the time it's just people talking about their kids.

How cares, its a gay site with douche bags that do nothing but complain when you post something that isn't to their liking. Thats why I banned myself from that site.

I would counter with its a great site, with far more threads than this forum making it 10x more interesting. People complain because they care about there resources. If you post a picture with a river in the background that is clearly identifiable, it gives everyone knowledge of what river is hot, and therefore increases fishing pressure. They're not complaining just to be dicks...
