Yes me too.
I work on a lot of roofs and off ladders and scaffold so I hate to hear anytime a worker falls and is hurt or in this case dies.
The ministry has laws that say you have to be tied off, an 8 foot fall can injure or kill. I'm not one to talk as I started this kind of work 30 years ago when safety was not really enforced or practiced so a safety line under my feet is just a pain in the butt.
I was caught last year by an inspector and fined for not being tied off. I didn't argue, I know he was doing his job and that he is right. Some of us older guys are just set in our ways. The fine did teach me to wear a harness and put ropes up but I am hardly ever attached to a rope, I keep one nearby to make it look good.
I joke with the guys on my crew telling them that "safety is my middle name." They laugh.
When I think back on all the things I've done, I'm lucky never have to have been hurt seriously. I hope the " younger dogs " are learning the tricks us " older dogs " aren't.
Alfie.
