Went to my fav. spot yesterday. Was awesome!

But i noticed some folks did a small dam:

What would be the purpose of such a thing ?

A highschool class did the same thing to study hydro dynamics on one of my favorite stretches... became a gong show during the steelie run..

Don't know what to think about it. If it would harm fishes, for sure I would remove a stone or 2. But it seems ok like that ?

I'd love that Shmogley! I will PM you.

So I got a switch 11ft 8 wt about 1 month ago.

I swinged about 30 hours with it, and still haven't caught a single fish. Not a bite.

It's mounted with a skakit 20FT head and I used Egg Leech pattern, buggers, muddlers, deceivers.

I have a 9 feet taper fluo 10lbs and then use some fluo tipped 6lbs.

Any advice ?

It seems like my cast lands hard on the water. I wander if i shouldn't use a different line so that the line lands smoother. The river I fish isn't that large.

Going to try GB thursday or friday.

Are you using a sink tip with the Skagit ? Try some MOW tips. Loop to loop the tip to the skagit, then a short (3-6 ft) tippet of 10 to 15 lb test. Skagit casting ain't pretty !

Yes ! Forgot to mention today i used super fast sink tip. So my setup was more like:

Skagit - Sink tip 5 ft - leader 5 ft

Are you saying trout that i shoot have my fly on a 10 to 15 lb tippet ? wow i am super light then with my 6lb :( I guess if a fish hits that I will break off right away.

Should i try a different type of line instead of skagit ?

Thanks !

No need for light tippets when swinging. 5 foot polyleader is pretty light for a skagit
