I think by the next two weeks many Easter tribs will have fish as for tribs by closer to home fish will be staging next few weeks mid August many river mouths should have fish. Let's not forget salmon cold water fish. Weather and water temps have been good won't be long for them to start staging and running into rivers.

its a known fact that the further north a river is, the earlier the fish run

Salmon rely on hours of sunlight first, before temps and water levels. Facts are facts.

I don't believe a wave ran yet. Pics or it didn't happen.

  Can you explain the sunlight part?

its like when you grow weed.  you can trigger them to flower when you switch the light hours to 10-14 or less.  but 12-12 they just grow.

the fish wait until the the hours of sun light per day gets smaller before running

I would wait until september before worrying about salmon in the rivers.  mid August pier fishing will start,  september the runs will start.  its not going to be a full month ahead of schedule, usually differs by a week or so.

Anyways, Ill  be carping untill october when the real chromers fire up.  boots, silver or black still arent all that great of a fish to catch unless your downrigging on a boat in the summer.  Ill just wait til october and grab up on some already dead carcasses to fertilze my garden, other than that, Ill leave the chinnies to the loogans.   my 2 cents

Yea I'm going to river mouths right now not black fish but I know their are some rivers that will have salmon in them soon all I'm saying and one or two have salmon already in them. What he's trying to say about light is. End of August the amout of daylight gets less and less. Meny believe this triggers fish to spawn but. I believe and seen fish spawning early August before the amout of daylight starts to change. All in all try out your favourite river mouth when u see fish an get some this year keep it hush hush and have fun.

they rely on less light in the sky first and foremost and once that is satisfied they wait for temps and rain to satisfy. Then its game on

^ you should probably not post that. I know it doesn't breach forum rules, but I guess you like fishing shoulder to shoulder.

Im not trying to be mean but thats the kind of knowledge you should keep to yourself and your select fishing buddies!!

If you haven't seen an early August run, you likely haven't been fishing very far or very wide, or for very long.
