Don't need a knife. Just rip out a few gills with your finger

Question - When catching a hen full of eggs, I see a lot of people bleed it and gut it right there (can't stand to see that) for the eggs. I prefer not to do that and would rather keep the fish intact and do all the un-pleasantries at home. Will the eggs spoil this way if I bring the fish home whole?
