I remember reading somewherr for which is better for Steel.. But I can't find the thread anymore. Suggestions on which one, to take?
well id go with salmon/brown right now switching solely to brown throughout winter, then use rainbow/brown in the spring.
i usually always have some brown on me just because it produces best for me. but i will bring some salmon or rainbow backups depending on whats going on
they are all good at the end of the day but matching whats actually in the water at the time/season can give a slight edge

Yeah I was just typing what shmog said...
Guys will catch them on salmon roe all year round because thats what they have, likewise I was fishing brown roe off the pier for salmon because thats what I had and it happened to work. Whatever you have confidence in.

I ordered a bag of brown roe and I am waiting for delivery now. I was just wondering, do I have to do anything to these eggs? Or are they ready to be fished with? I can't what for these eggs to get here now, I just ordered a couple days ago.

Tie them in roe bags. How are you fishing with them?
Posted 05 October 2014 - 05:05 PM
I was going to tie roe bags. Im just learning to use centre pin. I wasn't sure if you needed to do anything before tying them up.

Dont add the syrophone balls to them.
Posted 05 October 2014 - 05:27 PM
Styrofoam balls right? Ok cool I wasn't going to but thanks. Now I have been using beads the last outing. Can you fish a single egg like this? Or will it just burst open when you hook it? Also how many eggs do I want in each bag?
Posted 05 October 2014 - 05:30 PM
Im waiting for my order from Mike, but id say that they will almost certainly burst. How many eggs per bag.. Depends are you going for salmon, or Steel. Personally I make a variety of sized when I go out. Different mesh used.
Im going to use them with the beads.. I think it'll work well.

Ok sounds good, thanks for your help!

Brown roe would be very small to fish singles, but you can definitely tie single egg roe bags from salmon roe. Also, styrofoam balls definitely have their place, many people use them especially when bottom bouncing.

This is true. I had foam balls in my Roe when I was using pin. Didn't work out too well under float.Brown roe would be very small to fish singles, but you can definitely tie single egg roe bags from salmon roe. if you were out east at 'that' creek, I suspect you didn't need too much depth. I'd have no problem using styrofoams on some of the bigger rivers up in G-Bay. Things can get pretty crazy in those rapids!
