wicked thread.. haha. yes.. all of the above, but add about 3 faceplants on the way to the first light hole. I've been falling a lot, trying to make a blooper video of them this year

A few tall boys, standing at the pool waiting for first light. The ones in the parking lot while getting the waders on don't count.

I have IBS, so I always take one rapid action Imodium before heading out. I'm also one of those people who can't even look at food first thing in the morning, so that makes it easier. If you have the time, and you need to eat, have an astronaut's breakfast: steak and eggs. High protein, low residue. I also carry an old wide-mouth juice bottle in the canoe, so that if my bladder starts to protest I don't need to head for shore or risk trying to go over the side, just unzip, fill the bottle, and then dump it over the side.

If I'm alone and it's first light. PB&J. If i'm bringing my son, he makes great grilled cheese sandwiches. This won't be on the trib though. He's not fond of hiking the tribs. In regards to the runs...well. you got to do some feeling through process. i will know when...

last thing you want is to have a fellow angler run into you in a very displeasing position.

It's not just for fishing....

I have to drop a morning deuce or nothing goes right for the rest of the day.

Agree with the above that said dropping a deuce.  Drop a deuce, pack lunch, a little bite....that's when I know....

Usually grab a muffin first thing in the morning and pack a couple sandwiches for later on. Always try and force out a poop before heading out as it's a pain to have to shore up the boat and head into the woods. Can't forget my dog too, he loves to come fishing. And he's always up before 5am and ready to go.

I pack gear the night before and do a double check before bed.  In the AM one always to has drop an anchor.  Get dressed and do anothe gear count.  I do another gear count when everything is in the truck before heading out.  I hit the gas station, get a coffee maybe a donut and then grab a sandwich for lunch.

I emphasis on the gear checks because it totally blows wearing my slip on shoes as wading boots.  I have done that way too many times.  No traction, no comfort, blows.

i once got to the creek, pulled my fly rod out, only to find the 2 halves didn't match, the bottom was for my fly rod, the top was for a spinning rod

That is why, when i wake up usually 4:00 am sometimes earlier first thing i do is have cup of coffee and cigarette. That will always get my stomach working and than i run in washroom to do No2.  If i don't have my coffee and cigarette i can not go to bathroom. And of course around 10 am. i would he to go :)

That is my ritual before go fishing :)

P.S.

I only have one cup of coffee a day. First thing in the morning and that is it.
