I'm assuming going to 4# test will require a lot longer fight and also not sure my current set up is suited. Using a spinning reel and 12'6" convergence rod. Someday I will have a murky set up and a clear set up.

depends on how soft the rod tip is.  the drag on the reel can alway be reduced.  No need to carry two rods with you for different setups, just get the leader material spools, its 50yrds of whatever weight you want to run, i always carry 4.4, 6.8, 8.8 and 10lb with me at all times, i usually use the 10lb for salmon only, other than that, its just retie at your micro swivel, if you're using one, or retie on to your main line

Ha ha. Nice pic.
Even running 6lb main I have to hope the guy across from me doesn't hook up at the same time.
Too many times to count his 12lb test cuts through mine like a hot knife through butter. That's fine though. Lots more fish in the river.

I run 10lb main on all my set ups and never go below 5lb drennan on the leader end.

Ive fished all the lines now and before flouro carbon and have found drennan to be most durable but I also like the redwing phantom in 7.6 and 8.8 and its half the price of drennan. definenitley stay away from Berkley vanish by far the worst ive tried, use it a your gear will vanish, seriously.

I like to land steel quickly and see no need to go any lower on leader strength, the diameter differences are negligible if you ask me.

For main line its suffix promix and nothing else although I ran ande and super silver thread for many years, imo they cant compare to promix for a floatfishing application.
