Wondering if anyone has purchased Boca Abec7's for. Matrix reel. If so where did you purchase them from.

From them directly.  They have a orange seal that rubs against the the screw that holds the pin in.  I'd go with the abec5s from them cause they have the metal seal.  Do you think you wore out bearings in less than a year?

I was advised to order 5s from the owner of boca for a float reel application. The orange seal rubs on both the inner and outer race. I run my 7s with the seals out. Try cleaning the bearings before buying cheap Chinese bearings

The start up leaves something to be desired or I'm being to picky. Before I order anything I'll take bearings out clean and oil.

Haha I'm such a loser. I'm wondering if they're the same bearings I used as a kid on my skateboard. I had Abec 7's or 8's

I honestly dont see a need for 7s. Ive got 5s and just the weight of a few feet of line gets it turning no problem. Just my .02

try giving the center screw like a quarter turn left, ive found the raven reels run much better when that screw isnt all the way tight.

And again, try cleaning your bearings first. You shouldn't have to replace float reel bearings. There is a YouTube vid on how to clean them with brake cleaner and add a drop of 3 in1 or singer sewing machine oil

Just to follow up on this. I took the bearings out a cleaned and re lubed with light oil. Made a huge difference, I actually have no desire to upgrade bearing or reel. After using this reel and becoming more experienced with a pin I'm actually very happy with my purchase and will not be purchasing another reel for as long as this set up is performing. Took me awhile but I know completely understand it really has nothing to do with the equipment it's how it's used, maintained and mostly how what under the water is presented. Can have the best of everything and means nothing if you don't present to the quarry properly. Sure is cheaper this way...lol

I cleaned them an was much better. I was surprised how easy they slipped out. Lol. Still didn't see the number on them. The bearing are still a bit rough. Maybe I should soak then in lube to free the poop inside. Thx y'all

There isn't a number on them. Gotta get brake cleaner to get all the stuff out. Did you take the shields off?
