Hi guys.

I was wondering if anyone knows what species of sunfish are within the GTA. I have managed to find these so far.

Green sunfish

Pumpkinseed

Bluegill

Just wondering because after seeing a few members collecting/cataloging the different fish species I kinda wanted to as well.

thank you

Warmouth?  I'm not sure if that's part of the sunfish family.

Bluegill, Pumpkinseed and Green are the three that are found in the GTA.

Northern Sunfish is found in SW Ontario, Parry Sound and NW Ontario, but none of these areas are considered GTA.

Warmouth is a Species At Risk and found only at Point Pelee according to COSEWIC report.

Orangespotted Sunfish is a Species At Risk and are found in a very small corner of SW Ontario between Lake Erie and Lake St. Clair according to COSEWIC report.

There's the odd report of Redear Sunfish in Lake Erie (US side) and St. Lawrence River (mostly US side), but that's usually due to bait bucket introduction. They are considered as an invasive species.
