What are your plans for the opener tomorrow? Are you still going out or will you wait for the levels to drop?

Care to share any techniques for high, blown-out water?

I think I'll be tying some bigger, dark flies.

Glow beads and big sacks or worms! (Works for night fishing too!)

Good idea, I'll definitely bring both my fly and spinning rods so I can try several presentations.

Is it still fly fishing if I put a pink worm on my fly rod? lol

Swinging a black wooly would prob be my first tactic. I'm dying to get out, but hate crowds!

I tied two sizes of black and olive woolly's last night along with some random streamer patterns. I had one smash a purple woolly last year but the water was much clearer.

Water won't be high along the entire watershed, you can still find clear running water if you know where to go.

I'm going on sunday instead. I will probably fish pink worms, larger roe bags, and dark coloured wooly bugger jigs

Definitely gonna rock a single 6mm white bead or some #26 midges. Wish me luck

Well I swung by a local creek and the flow is insane, I might have to wait for sunday. I'll check the hydrometric data in the morning.

Fish will be next to shore and not out in the main flow.

This is why I love this forum. I was gonna post this very question. I'm heading out on Sunday with a bud, both pretty green. Fly or Spinning? Presentation styles?

Cheers! The replies have already helped.

I'll be hitting a local creek but the water is crazy here as with most of SW ON. I have experience fishing high water but I don't think there will be too much pressure on the fish (not easily spooked/found) and waiting a day or three shouldn't be a big deal.

Won't be able to make it out until mid-week next week unfortunately... hopefully it will be tamer by then with maybe a fresh run of chromers in the river.

Best of luck to everyone heading out tomorrow. Safe wading.

You'll be good, prime time is a few days away where I am.
