I would find it hard to get excited about small fish like that with big Chromers in rivers but im glad to see you find pleasure !!! Great fishing to you !!!!
Fish on !

Meh steelheading is fun but nothing beats catching small coloured up resi's on a fly rod. Plus it takes more skill. 😆

Seriously though I got out had my fun catching some chromers before and on opener on the pin. But the crowds are garbage and searching for fishable water is painful. Chucking bait is mindless poop. I went out my first day steelheading and hammered 9 fish. Now fly fishing is a different story. Go try and paste 10 resident Browns in 2 hours your first day fly fishing and let me know how you do.

You're going to be hard pressed getting into any fish with this rain.

That's what I'm finding out.  Hopefully the rain will hold off for the next little while!

I'm very new to fly fishing, and I've gone steel heading once haha. Naturally a guy caught a beautiful chromer as we walked up, snapped some pictures for him and we didn't get anything the rest of the day. So I'm not a very good judge of fishing for steelhead...I just love small stream fishing so much! It's isolated and you're immersed by nature. I went out tonight and the first half was the most frustrating time I've head because I am pretty new... I got into a groove and landed these guys! In total got 3 fish, and 2 more popped the fly before I could net them. Great fight on the 3wt though!

That's awesome, I also went out last night/evening and caught about 6 juvenile trout.

What did you catch them on?

Very nice! What species?

And first fish that popped my fly I had a march brown on, and then the others I netted were all on an elk hair caddis. Little early but they're usually the most productive for me.
