Managed to get out to a local swim today for a few hours. Since I had no prepared maize on hand decided to fish the method feeder. a short 4.5 hour session only produced one carp about 18lbs, fish were knocking the feeder around all day producing single and double beeps on the alarm. But only the one run. Was using pinnapple cukk corn with a flouro plastic maize and a short 4inch hooklink. The method mix I used was a mix of hemp n halibut stick mix with extra hemp corn fishmeal and breadcrumb to help bind. I find bread baits more effective in the cold water than say oats which I use more in summer.

All in all good day out although hot and very windy. The carp action will only get better in the coming days.

Sry I didn't snap a pic as fishing solo, was a bit of a chore netting it from 5ft above the water.

tightlines, Darrin

I hit sail at lunch today and got my carp gear - I fish for them unlike your average carp fisherman, I simply can't sit and wait for my rod to bounce, sight fishing 101 !

I have been fly fishing for suckers already which has been a blast. I have seen a few monster carp but I only had a 4wt fly rod at the time, I'll bring my 8wt out soon, maybe this weekend. I'll have to get a scale for fun too, any recommendations?

Currently Im using a $30 rapala digital which is quite accurate, I highly recommend purchasing a weigh sling to put the fish in to weigh it, so much better and safer for the fish. with the weights of some of these carp holding by gills or such can actually tear away gillplate from fish  because of immense weight ir is holding. Best to hold carp with one hand holding tail other hand cradiling top of belly, same goes when taking pics never hold a large carp by the gill plate.

I have seen people using the Ikea bags to weigh fish before, my only concern is don't they stink after some use? (all the fish slime and water being trapped in there over time)

I caught two carp in February through a melted patch of ice. With the right presentation, it's always carp time!!!!

They stink but carp doesn't stink as much as pike or bass. I don't measure carp weights...all I know is that they're fat no matter what. I've been out carping twice this year so far and have caught 1 on the first outing and 2+1 mirror on my 2nd trip. @rotary park. I was accused of stealing chum once. although I casted about 10ft from where the other guy casted his feeder.

My first 2 carp of the year and they were caught targeting walleye.  They smashed my deep diving jerbait

Went for walleye this weekend but the fishing was slow. Ended up setting up for carp and caught a bunch. These were some of the nicer ones.

The carp bite was on fire. Seemed like when it got rainy and windy they started feeding even more.

Nice fish. Have been fishing Hamilton area at night, water about four feet above normal, results have been ok but bit slow on average there for this time of year. Nothing 25 plus yet, a lot of carp are in the flooded out sections of rivers and lakes right now, my swim may be a bit deep with the water levels. all our fish have come close to shore. the whole harbour is infested with gizzard shad right now aswell
