Newbie here (hello) and I'm trying to plan a solo long weekend trip into your beautiful country. I'm really intrigued by the perch in Simcoe, though I'm not much of a hard water fan.

My dad used to take us to Manitoulin island when I was a kid and we'd catch buckets and buckets of jumbos. I've been trying to recreate that experience, though I know the good ok days are probably long over.

So what say you? Worth a long weekend in early August to try for the elusive yellow bellies? Waste of my time? Should I stick to what I know? Just sick of going North and kinda want to head east.

Any advice is appreciated.
