Hey guys, Im looking for some clarification from fellow anglers on the 75ft rule regarding fishing downstream from the lower entrance to any fishway or canal, obstacle or any device designed to assist fish around an obstacal..I plan on contacting the mnr to ask for specific exemptions or examples but would love to hear what you guys think...

I recently witnessed a guy asking a C.O if fishermen were allowed to fish the caledonia dam on the grand river (they were about 20ft away from the dam casting to the base) The C.O said it was leagal to do so..Now as per the regs this would be prohibited as i understand..I have been fishing for the past 27 years and have always believed that spillways and dams would be considered an obstacal and therefore the 75ft rule comes into play..

From what I understand it is technically illegal but not enforced at Caledonia. I have seen this at other dams on the Grand as well.

It is good practice not to, however it is generally only enforced if there is signage in the area.
