There is a weight difference with using a dacron backing, but in many cases you usually get 150 yards of line which is not enough line for a CP reel, so use the backing to save on cost.

Hitler would hve been glad to see the advancements in these modified fish, because it would mean that it would be one step closer to his dream of having an aryan super race.

#254045 Anyone use Flipping jigs come bass season?

Posted by Spinninreel on 20 December 2012 - 09:25 PM in Fishing Gear Talk and DIY Corner

So many to choose from; each for it's own application. 1/8 to 1/4 swimming jig for swimming it back, 3/4 to 1 oz for heavy weeds. There are so many applications. You need to be more specific.

This is a tricky time of year, since the lakes could freeze and day and then you need to wait until the ice is solid enough.

#253556 Success on the River

Posted by Spinninreel on 11 December 2012 - 09:12 PM in Steelhead and Salmon Fishing

There are days on the river where just about everyone will get a fish or two and someone who is at the right spot may get a large number of hook ups. The right bait with the right presentation at the right time.

#253219 Studs for wading boots

Posted by Spinninreel on 09 December 2012 - 06:16 PM in Fishing Gear Talk and DIY Corner

What I like about the studs I was looking at is the the extra wide thread so they will hold in place better.

CJR, I hard the Cx is better than the Cxx; not as stiff. I am still using Ande in an 8lb and it seems to do the job.

#253071 Studs for wading boots

I'm think of getting the actual studs that are made for wading boots. The type of thread they use is better than a standard screw, so I think they would last longer and hold better.

#252496 First catch on new centrepin setup

Posted by Spinninreel on 01 December 2012 - 12:29 AM in General Fishing Discussion

My dad has a center pin that he bought and used twice, Im going to give it a go the next time I get out, I think he mentioned line twist as a big problem. Not sure if its due to the casting method he used. If I were to add a barrel swivel would this eliminate line twist?

This is what a lot of people do to prevent line twist. Some will even put two swivels on, one above the float and one where the leader and main line meet.

Don't let the cats loose! It could be another outbreak of botulism.
