#332157 Whats New?

Posted by Kit on 08 April 2016 - 11:41 AM in Fly Fishing

So I have been off here for a while haven't been on any other forum except Spey Pages but I read more then post. Just wondering how everyone is doing? Opener is in two weeks and thats pretty exciting! For those who follow Canadian River Angler that has been going great and its coming up to being three years at the end of this month! We just got Graham Bistrow on our team and he has been great so far. If you don't know who Graham is he owns A Perfect Drift Guide Company one of Ontario's best if not the best guiding company!

Hope everybody has a great opener and maybe I will see you out there.

#327550 Muskoka River

Posted by Kit on 18 October 2015 - 05:22 PM in General Fishing Discussion

Heading up to the cottage for a week for the last week of October the cottage is located close to Port Sydney. My backyard is the river. Can spit to it from the deck almost.

I know the lower area in my backyard holds pike, eyes and bass but what I am looking for are trout streams that hold trout within an hours drive from where I am. Not looking for honey holes, and everything I catch is strictly C&R. If you know good tribs please shoot me a pm. Don't want anything exposed on here.

Please and thanks.

#327423 Anatomy of a Steelheader

Posted by Kit on 10 October 2015 - 07:13 PM in Steelhead and Salmon Fishing

I got my first steelhead on the swing this past spring hooked one then minutes later another. All fall I was skunked though to when things started to freeze up. I stuck with swinging a fly till I got my fish. I didn't want to give up on it and move onto nymphing (can't stand it).

All I can say to anybody fishing big to medium sized water and swinging for steel. Don't give up! Once it happens it pays off.

Here she is. The other fish I got I don't have a picture handy it was a male.

Remember always keep em wet!

Hey bud, if the lake is calm paddle around the wetlands. Was there in the early bass season and got lots of largies on the fly.

When I say wetlands inside the bay not the main lake. And lots of smallies around too. Big ones.

Looking for 750 or trade for a ready to fish switch setup.

#325743 Trico hatch

Posted by Kit on 27 July 2015 - 01:29 PM in Fly Fishing

Nope don't have the patience. Rather buy one lol.

#325738 Trico hatch

Posted by Kit on 27 July 2015 - 11:27 AM in Fly Fishing

I rarely fish a Trico hatch. I'm not very keen on trying to keep an eye on a fly smaller then your pinky nail. But if I had to I would mostly fish a female.. But if the hatch is so heavy its not gonna matter, fish loose their sense of whats what and just hit whatever looks like they are eating.
