Posted by buck on 24 November 2014 - 10:26 PM in Ice Fishing

All i had last year was a makita with 2 18v batteries and a six inch auger and it sucked, i ended up using my 9 inch gas powered jiffy for the rest of the season...i hear that the porter cable 20v are good in the cold

#319580 Anyone ever used " Fish Crisp?"

Posted by buck on 19 November 2014 - 12:16 PM in General Fishing Discussion

yeah walleye is a little mild so like we do in Italy season your flour or fine breadcrumbs with salt and pepper a little granulated garlic for aroma (because we eat with our noses first) then pan sear it in a little olive oil and butter until golden and enjoy with a squirt of lemon. Those store bought mixes are always full of crap that we don't need in our bodies and very overpowering. if you wanna take it to the next step make a caper aioli.

#319131 Studs or no studs?

Posted by buck on 06 November 2014 - 12:44 PM in Fishing Gear Talk and DIY Corner

James I use those for ice fishing on early ice when theres no snow...they work pretty good for that but I don't know if they could handle walking over boulders and such...I think they might not stay in place

#319104 How to Push Someone out of a Hole

Posted by buck on 05 November 2014 - 05:03 PM in Steelhead and Salmon Fishing

be careful who you do that to, after over 30yrs of river fishing I've realized that most of the people that try to push you out are bullies looking for a fight...it's mostly about power and has very little to do with fishing

#319098 Tell me why your wading boots are awesome. Or, aren't.

Posted by buck on 05 November 2014 - 04:23 PM in Fishing Gear Talk and DIY Corner

Korker Chrome just love em. boa lacing system never had a problem with it but I keep a spare lace and wheel just in case, very comfortable and light. The interchangeable sole is cool but I just keep the studs on so if the soles weren't interchangeable I think I would like them more but I've never had any problems with the soles.

#316988 Islander or Kingpin Imperial CP?

Posted by buck on 30 September 2014 - 10:29 AM in Fishing Gear Talk and DIY Corner

I have an Okuma Sirata an Islander and a KP Sovereign and they're all great reels the only issue I have is with the KP, it's impossible to take apart @fishergirl that might be the only issue you encounter. I hear that all KPs have this issue, any tips from KP owners on how to take it apart without damage?

The only rod I've broke was a 12' noodle rod that whipped bake into a tree and broke the tip ... Your fathers rods were probably knocked around it had a manufacture defect

Anyone have any experience in that area? This will be my first time on the ice in that area. Just wondering what to expect and what to bring with me.

I stayed at Glen Echo many times it was great, are you in an ice bungalow? during the day is usually non stop whities and eyes and at night........non stop......MUDPUPPIES all you want

Posted by buck on 14 January 2014 - 07:17 PM in Ice Fishing

The last couple of trips out has been with my boys.  Always fun watching them get excited hooking into a fish and the smiles and laughs they have when they land one.  I was even outfished this day. lol

The best was hearing my boy say "Dad, I caught two fish, I can't believe it!"  Too funny.  They definately want to go again with me.  Start them off young.
