Yep, that's how I"ve been doing it for quite a few years now, too. I used to go to Algonquin a lot, but it's just getting too expensive now. For the cost of all those permits I drove further north to find better fishing.

It is good beginners guide. I am using slightly different bait recipe ( bred crumbs, Jello and whole corn) and only artificial corn as a hook bait (keeps the nasty bullheads away).
Sail stores do have a carp counters if you need your carp fix right away :)
