Lake Simcoe Ice Fishing

There’s a perfectly logical reason why so many of our neighbors to the south make the long drive north across the Canadian border and head straight to Lake Simcoe this time of year, every year. It’s because once the ice has safely frozen over the surface of Lake Simcoe, some of the best ice fishing this side of Minnesota comes alive in a big way… Or should I say in a “jumbo” way. I’m talking about Jumbo perch, and lots of them.
As of this week, our forum members are beginning to report fast limits of Jumbo Perch out of Cook’s Bay, Lake Simcoe. The jumbo perch action is just beginning, so it should be good for quite some time. If you were thinking about ice fishing this year and just waiting for the ice to freeze, it’s now officially game on. Whitefish, Pike and Lake Trout are also on the menu…
