Hello All!

I made it out this weekend (Saturday January 7) to Lake Couchiching. I am pleased to announce there is plenty of safe ice (we were sitting on about 8 inches).

Over the course of the day, pin heads seemed to do the best! Working some crank baits brought in the bigger fish but most fish were caught on dead sticks!

I was up with 2 buddies and we easily caught over 100 (combined) we kept approximately 30 for ourselves!

I did not see a single parasite on the ones I cleaned!

Snow cover was minimal (only an inch or two)

I was there the week before when there was 10 inches of snow the night before, all that seems to have frozen now.

We were sitting on 4inches of black ice, there was a 1-2" layer of water/white ice (from the snowfall last week I assume) followed by 3-4" white ice on top.

(It was kinda freaky since you can slide the ice scoop between the layers)
