Lake Ontario

Hi everyone - new to this forum - thanks for having me.  I live in the Tweed area and have been fishing local lakes for years.  I'd like to try getting out on Lake Ontario around Prince Edward County, off of Brighton, etc but find the whole thing pretty intimidating!  Last year I did the Adolphus Reach area of Bay of Quinte and ran into some really big waves that freaked me out!  I'd like to try some fishing close to shore, maybe for bass, but I'm not sure where this is best accomplished, best boat launch, etc.  I'm not asking for anyone's hot spots (!!) just some advice on roughly where to put in and what to expect. Eventually I'd like to try for walleye and salmon in deeper water but getting there is half the battle!
