anyone hitting the islands for pike opener? thinking of heading down but not sure where a good place to start would be.

Actually, I have never ever fished for pike before and I do plan on trying it for the first time soon.

I do plan to goto Central Island aswell... don't know where to fish but I'll just walk all around the shores and just cast and see what happens.

If you do find out "better area" to fish. Please let me know aswell.

Yeah I might stop by center island or hanlans island during the week or possibly this weekend coming up. From what I've read the season is open, and the islands are considered "Division 8".

But if you do end up catching one be sure to have some handy tools ie: extra long pliers, possibly a jaw spreader & also gloves. Its not very pleasent having a treble embedded in your hand/finger, trust me, I've seen it happen ! Pike can litterally snap its jaw at your hand while trying to dehook a lure of its mouth, just be ready to pull your hand back !!

if a pike snaps its teeth on my hand... i would proably kill that f'ing fish.
