Does anybody catch anything other than carp and catfish there? I've talked to people there and hear stories of pike and bass, but I've never seen them myself.

I just spent the morning out on my float tube, in Frenchman's Bay, and did not get a single bite. I think I tried every lure in my tackle box, and a variety of soft plastics. I launched from the park on the east shore, went north along that shoreline, then back south on the west shoreline, and finally cut back across to the park.

Let me tell you, the north half of the bay is *extremely* shallow in places, even far out from shore. I actually stopped in the middle of the bay and was able to stand upright. The water was just above knee-level.

Also, I learned something new today. Filling up your chest waders with liquid *from the inside* is a pleasant relief at first -- nice and warm -- but it eventually gets cold, and the feeling of cold liquid being pumped around your waders as you kick is most decidedly *not* pleasant. :)

Yuck.

From what I have heard is Frenchman's Bay is mainly good at prespawn & postspawn period.

But i am sure there are always few lurking around here and there.

You are probably better off tubing at the Toronto Island during weekdays? due to bloody too many people during weekends.

But like I have said before... piking from shore or close to shore is only good during spawn time.

Enjoy!

I was out yesterday with a friend, pretty much had the same result, almost zippo, it has to be this cold-spell. Went 0/1, lost a descent bass that spit out my lure, and my buddy went 1/2 with one of my own 1/8 oz. chartreuse lures, barely any bites. Give it a few days, and the pike/bass will be biting again ! I might even head to the islands or downtown to try for some fish if the weathers descent this week.

I only stumbled upon Frenchman's Bay last year but I managed to pull out one pike last year around the beginning of september.

I've been there about eight times since this years opener and haven't caught a thing at all.

Nice fish!

I was at Frenchman's Bay once just before the season closed. It was cold and wet and I didn't get anything at all except for a cold.

There was an old man there that told me that this year hasn't been as good as it's been in previous years... As I recall, he said "the pike should be here, but they're not for some reason".

I also saw quite a few other ppl fishing, but nobody caught anything either.

A guy at the marina did tell me that ppl were catching pike the week before. lol It's always good fishing the week "before".

ALL OF THEM ARE CAUGHT IN EARLY SUMMER IN FRENCHMAN BAY, BEFORE THE WEEDS GROW BIG. ALL BEEN RELEASED AFTER TAKING THE PHOTO. THE DOCKS IN SOUTH SIDE ARE PRAVITE, BUT YOU CAN USE IT ON THE WEEKEND AND THE DOCKS IN THE EAST SIDE ARE PUBLIC. A NICE PUBLIC WASHROOM AND KIDS PLAYGROUD IN THE SOUTH END LIVERPOOL RD. JUST BESIDE THE BRIDGE. [/img]
