I woulda thought it was the complete opposite, I see more people fishing now than ever before, unless most are fishing without licences, hmmm I have been asked once this year...maybe we need more constables out looking around!

I agree with the other remarks and say that there are less fishing licences out there but more people fishing. What bothers me about the fishing licence deal is where the money goes for those licences. The ministry of natural resources seems to have less and less money every year, and the stocking and conservation programs out there really need a lot of improvement.

If thats the case ppl fishing without a license then when they get ticketed the MNR makes enough money to offset the amount of ppl that don't pay..hmmm maybe thats why I see more opp & cos.

I've been checked only once this year so far. I find I get checked more when ice fishing...

btw, even though I don't ever keep a full limit of any type of fish, I buy the "sport" version of the license, instead of the "conservation". If it's as they say and all the proceeds go to fishing related programs, I'm O.K with spending the extrs 5$ per year if it supports our fishing....

I don't think that they use these funds very wisely; stocking and conservation programs have gotten worse over the last few years. This fund should be controlled by people who are active fishermen and not bureaucrats.

I also get the sport licence even though I don`t keep any fish...I also agree that we need to get politicians out and fish people in controlling these funds, otherwise money will be going other places, that may not have anything to do with fishing, and probably already does!...lol FISH PEOPLE

That is the problem with fishing. We are not organized so we do not have a voice that could approach the government and tell them what we need done for our tax dollars.

How someone who was minister of Energy and transportation has the qualifications to be resource minister is beyond me? Why aren’t credited people are placed in these position’s?

I don't see anything in her background that makes her qualified? Maybe I am wrong but you would think they would publish her qualification no?

MP of Mississauga so I don't see how she is the best person for the job. I can't tell u one thing good I have read that they have done yet? Maybe someone else can?

You tell me she looks like an avid outdoorsman. I know I know don't judge a book by its cover but what about when it's a photo shopped img of her? Then it's fair game no?

http://www.mnr.gov.o... ... 26953.html

The biggest news is what?

Declining lake levels hello anyone been down to lake O this years knows it right back up again. A year late on that article and probably a few million $ down the drain too. Superior I agree still has problems with low levels.

Maybe last year yeah drought but this year is completely opposite the lakes are topped up again in my opinion.
Leave it to the government to be a year late and few million dollars out the window.

How many stocking programs or clean up projects that could have covered?

Then they spend how much of flippin prints of the wild WTF these are there priorities?

I don't want no fuzzy pix I want a nice clean well kept environment.

No wonder things are the way they are.

Sorry this got to me!

IF they would only talk to the people in the field, to really know what's going on. You have to give these guys credit for the work that they do with the tight budgets that they have.

Yeah so the three nice bass but over all abut 12 hours spent walking and fishing to get those three monsters and a few smaller ones.

Saturday went to Grenadier Pong in high park for the day, was interested in some bass hunting mostly go for pike so something different.

The Rubber worm!

About 6:30 at night watching the water and see this fish keeps coming up in the same area every once and a while so I work my way over as close as poss it’s gunna be one heck of a cast to get there.

Boom perfect way out there just on the opposite side of the weed flat.

Rob in the hand as a smoke comes out. The line just bolts off to the left reel in the slack in my mind I’m thinking all day for this don’t screw this up.

All day I mean all day people catching small ass pan fish and I’m sitting there casting for nought this is my revenge pull out a monster that eats there fish for BREAKFEST!

Rolled way down into the weeds and a BASS ripping my drag which was set on full because of the constant weed problem.
Had to be very patient as I couldn’t just rip this fish out.

Just held him tight while he was rapped in the weed about 30-40 sec later he bolted into open water and was MINE!
Quick release and I was happy time to go home!

Then Sunday woke up right early for some reason 6am that isn’t me at all.
Decided to hit the island before the large crowds and the line up for the fairy is too much to handle.
Got there no prob and no line wicked.

Fishing half the day nothing not even a bite heck I haven’t even seen a sign of fish yet.

Anyways went to a party on a yaht for a few hours , did that party for half the day till about 7pm I wasn’t about to get skunked on the island NO WAY! Although I hadn’t really been fishing and the one hit was while I was on the yacht I think I’d had too much to drink or just wasn’t caring as that fish got off but I didn’t really care at that point hahahaha.

So after that got # etc and decided prime time lets catch some fish. Went down to a quiet shore to just watch and figure out why I’m getting skunked then a pike showed me the answer.

He swam out from under a little matt of floating debree right by shore. Literally 6” off land. I’m fishing the middle of these channels but the fish are tucked against the shore!
Now I new what was going on. Quietly walked the shore looking ahead spotting tails hanging out the backs of these flats.

Found a few monster bass hiding. MONSTERS!

Carefully backed off and rigged up a bit away as not to spoke em.

Tied on a white rubber grub thing no weight shallow water I want it to just fall slowly.

So a few cast they check it out and move on. You can see them swim right over look at it from this way that way and nothing.

Then I hid behind a tree, Tossed the white grub onto a floating mat 2 ft from shore. This BIG bass about 3.5-4;b comes up looked at it and I had the full view of a bass inhaling a grub and unlike the first bass this one didn’t bolt so I slammed the hook home and he was out within 10 sec as I was stuck between two trees and the bass was right down twisted in logs any more time and he would be gone.

Showed that one to the ambulance guys as it was by there station, they said they see people fishing but never catch. Showed them what and where to look for them. “people should know the spot”

Heck if you know bass you can still see the nests from the spring.

Over all WICKED fishing and WICKED parties totally kick ass weekend. The Yacht party just made it PERFECT!
