Looking for some advice on Lakes and/or cottages in the Ontario area. Live in Buffalo and have heard many stories about great walley/pike trips somewhere north of Toronto. Is April/May the best time to go, and where would you recommend? Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you
There are lots of cottages to rent on Rice Lake, 1 and a half hours from downtown Toronto. It is great for panfish in early spring, perch, crappie, sunfish.
No pike in Rice but there are decent numbers of walleye. That is a great time to fish for walleye as they spawn in March. Pike usually spawn from late March to early May.
Rice also has great bass fishing as well as musky. Other lakes to consider for walleye and pike are Lake Simcoe, not sure about cottage rentals and Lake Nipissing, much farther north, lots of cottage rentals. Look at some of these links.

Kawartha's have been the best for walleye for me, so rice, scugog, pigeon, chemong would be good bets.
