Hey all...Hit Bluffers park this morning with my bud Tangledline. It was overcast as promised with no rain for most of the day. We started fishing at about 10am, maybe 10:15...started working the public boat launch water. Walked around that with nothing. Water was a real ugly green color. Made our way to the marina shoreline and started working it toward the bridge. Saw 2 guys on a boat fishing the marina, I think they caught 1 small pike all day(late). We made our way to the bridge, and then into the next marina area. Still alittle ice in that bay. I fished from the ice edge and worked our way around to the beaver dam and back to the ice. I had one follow...Big Brown I believe, and that wasn`t until well after 2...we fished some more, untill 3:30, and then made ready for that hike of a mother back up the bluffs...wow after a day of shorefishing, that is one son of a %$#@& hill. So what do I take away from this...Bluffers is a nice place, alotta walking required, but the possibility for fishing the entire season for multi species is all right there...lucky are you that live close by this little gem!

Ohh and one more thing...I was changing my lure...and I got my Live Target embedded into my middle finger deep down in there...I had Tangledline get in there with a pair of plyers and his great big gorrilla hands, with no luck, so I gritted my teeth, grabbed on and quite violently ripped it out of my digit! War wounds!!

Live Target baits are barbed. How is the action on that Smelt? I bought one of their Golden Shiners at the Spring Fishing and Boat show but find the action to be weak when compared to the Rapala Clackin' Rap.

Well at least you gave it a try and you managed to see a follower. Better luck next time out. Great report.

It was barbed...and it was in long enough, and we tried hard enough to get it out, that by the time I yanked it out my finger was numb.

Dirk...

I also bought mine at the spring boat show...I like the action, it`s alittle subtle on the steady retrieve, but I like the way they jerk and stop....I guess it`s all in what works, and quite honestly I have used this lure 55% of the time and nothing yet...we will see in may.

haha yeah exactly!
truthfully this yeah has been slow to say the least, after the boat launch iced out we got 3 and everytime back we've been skunked. when we checked down the marina on tuesday the water was gin clean, i could see my husky jerk 20 feet away but still no follows or takes.. if theres one thing i did notice tho is theres barely any baitfish around,
last year soon as ice melted you could see alot of schooling minnows. give it a couple more warmer days!
