Hi all, I'm new to the sport of fly fishing and would like to know what rivers in Ontario are open, and what fish can be caught in the months of December and January? Also please let me know what gear I would need accordingly eg: rod, reel, leader, fly type and size ...

Thank you for your help,
d

8/9 weight rod
double tapper fly line
screw tippets, just tie a 10lb 6lb then 4lb leader on and fly onto the 4lb(depending on waht ur fishing ie salmon go with 6 trout with 4)
make sure leader is flouro carbon, TRUST.
head to BPS and get some glaciel gloves with index figer and thumb holes. MUST HAVE!!!!
a warm hat.
a warm coat
warm pants.
warm underwear
be warm.
WADERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!(makes fishing so easy)
forceps.
oya and flies: wooley buggers, nypmhs, eggs, streamers and minnows. all colours multiple times(like 5 pink 5 blue 5 green 5 white etc.)
get bb-shot weights(very tiny split shots) and put em like 1-3ft away from your fly if you want to make it sink better(with an egg i put weights on it and float it down)

GET YOUR CASTING TIMING.
