Oh yeah... few people lost a lot of LURE$.
When did you catch a rainbow? i guess after I left? or before I arrived?

and yeah,,, seen few micky mouse setups, another bobber fishing! too... geez

Also, I guess it was hits during the dark/wavey hours, eh? I thought I was clipping rocks or something on every cast.

Mikey
Re-loaded and ready to go after this rain. Next couple of days should be a write off, but the weekend looks promising.
Grabbed several j13s several 3/4 oz x-raps and ready for bear LOL.
Re-spooled the Revo Winch and if it fails me this time I am tossing it into the drink. That how much I would think of a 200 dollar reel.

How about using roe at the river on Friday night? Is the water too muddy to be using roe?

Thanks for all the useful information.

Anyone have any thoughts on replacing treble hooks on the J-13 with siwash hooks? Good idea or not?

IMO
Not a good idea will effect the wobble of the j-13. On the cleos for sure.
I pinched down the barbs on the trebles. Last time I landed one it took several minutes to unhook it

for those that does not have proper gears or does not want to be bothered with so many people or fish shoulder to shoulder....
should just fish long the river side between lakeshore & the train track. you won't see bad waves there, or fish shoulder to shoulder and you can land a fish with almost any net.

besides, any fish that is out by the mouth of the river have to go up the river anyways.

You have to show up really early to get a prime spot. I try to get there @ 4:30 AM.
Last week the water was really murky but they were just hammering anything large such as crank baits.
FYI anything that made a rattling sound.

awesome,
you shouldn't be eating too much fish from lake ontario.

i think the recommended amout is only 1 serving per month.

nice pike! were you running a wire leader on your rig? if not you're lucky it didnt chew through your line! looks bigger than 6.5lbs!

I went to the pier on friday night for about an hour from 7:30-8:30PM.... I hooked a big salmon and it almost spooled me and when I got nervous and tried to horse it too much it broke my 30lbs power pro :P Rookie mistake!

My first real hook up with a salmon ever and even though I didn't land it, what a rush! Ive never felt so much power from a freshwater fish. The way it took out line reminded me of trolling for pike with a 15hp outboard and getting snagged on a log! Can't wait to actually land one!
