There are Bass in there for sure. 1-2 lb, some 4-5 lbs as well ie. in my picture, that is a scugog bass. I have go to scugog this summer no bass yet unfortunately, I did catch a few and released by accident when trying to catch Walleye at scugog before bass season.

You want to target weeds and lily pad areas for bass. Which is basically everywhere on the lake. I find that live minnows works best, but I recently got 20 new Rapala lures from Ebay and will be trying those out for tournament practice lol.

I've never been up to Scugog to go fishing. Are there a lot of good opportunities from shore or do you need a boat?

Caught this hawg fishing from a private dock. Casting a Hula Popper above a weed bed 20 yards from shore. Bass was 24" and guesstimate of 6+lbs. Northern part of the lake at about 1pm.

Good luck out there!

Nice One Tyger!

On my Favourite Top Water ....... "ARBOGAST HULA POPPER"!! YAAAAAEEE!! That Lure has to have been around for at Least 30 Years now!!

Actually, I was thinking of heading on down to Bass Pro in the next few days to pick up one (maybe 2  ) .

They have them in 1-3/4" and 2-1/4", 3 colours at $6.29. They also have an "Arbogast JOINTED Jitterbug". Got 2 of the smaller ones so this one is a "Must Have"

Scugog is one weedy lake. When at my nephews place we simply cast from the shore into/over the weeds. Scum Frogs are awesome for that.

Yah I was out on my canoe and it's very weedy. I honestly had more luck on shore. Im still waiting to try and get my canoe out to caesara but there is always high waves there that might flip me :P but I believe all the fish is in the deeper Pockets and if your lucky you'll find some in the shallows. I rarely go there anymore since its so packed at night and on weekends. The lake really does take alot of pressure from fishing. I don't even think you'll find walleye in it anymore which is pretty sad. But if you have a boat head out to the north should be more peaceful there lol

So all of the decent shore spots on the south end are all packed in the evenings and on weekends, eh?

I'd be down for some top water action over the weeds from shore if it's decent but I'd rather not if it's going to be too many people. I enjoy the peace and serenity of it. haha.

I've caught a few decent bass off the pier in Ceaserea this summer. It's been hit or miss for me but they are there. I go late, like midnight late, when I go. It's very crowded otherwise evenings and weekends. Heck there were 4 people fishing there at 1:00 am last time I was there.

You need one of these. Scugog is great if you can just get off the shore or to a shore with no one there.

I was fishing scugog for bass this afternoon on boat, no luck. Caught a perch the size of a regular bass though.
