No problem with the roe as long as its no to stinky. not sure of the legalities or if it counts towards your limit.

I found two hens in the Humber, last year.
No apparent "trama" on either ... and looked like they were 1-2 days dead.

I took the Roe from both. It was FINE!

*Does COUNT towards your Limit and is perfectly Legal.

As Long as the ROE has not been sitting out in the Sun or MIXED with BLOOD ... it is great.

(inside a recently dead Salmon in the Water)

Still has it's "NATURAL SMELL" and the Eggs are Firm. I still run them in the River Water for about 5 minutes.

They worked very well for me 0ver the Fall & Winter. Last season was exceptional ... not too many Freeze Ups.

I found a very silver and very dead coho on an eastern trib not too long ago. When I zippered it a bunch of as spewed out of it and it stank pretty bad lol. After trying to process the eggs in the river for a few minutes they started turning white so I opted not to keep them. As for the legality of it that is a good question. I am pretty sure that if you have fresh roe on you that you have to have the fish on you as well otherwise you are breaking the regs. The other important factor though is officers discretion. If they believe you that you got the eggs off of a dead fish then im sure any officer would let you go without a fine. But what if they don’t believe you????

Either way there is nothing morally wrong with taking the eggs so I say go for it!

This situation depends on the CO.

Technically, you did not catch the fish by angling, therefore you have no right to its eggs.

If you legitimately took eggs out of a fish that you found dead, I don't think you would ever get charged, unless those eggs put you over your legal possession limit.

Counts towards your limit. And from what I understand because the fish is deemed unsuitable for consumption, you can harvest the eggs no problem. I'm just not 100% on the legalities of leaving the body where you cut it open, I think you have to dispose of it yourself ( in a trash can ). BUT it depends on the CO, they can nail ya if they want to

I guess take a short vid of the dead fish before you zipper it incase you run into a CO ( lol). I know I don't feel bad when taking it, rather slit some trash than watch a big hen bleed out.
Nado - what's the diff between dead and really dead?

I believe it was Very Dead, quite different from a fish that is Really Dead. lol jk. I guess I meant to say it wasnt freshly dead. It was floating downstream after the really big rainfall two weeks ago, I assume it was a fish that beached itself and was sitting on shore decomposing for a few days before the water levels went up and it was washed down stream. When I zippered it I felt a strong stream of gasses hit my hand and then the stench came lol
