Steelhead are a trout so i fish for those trout but not the tiny trout that live in trout streams. I also command the lake trout but not so far this winter ?

Done it not into it. The whole knowing the hatches and all the bug stuff bores me. I wait till june and smash skis with 80lb test and 12'' baits!

Opener is a special time, whether you go out or not. As FG mentioned, some breathtaking trout waters become fair game again after a long, cold winter.

Many people who don't get out fishing very often get a real good chance of hooking up with a rainbow, who at other times of the year may not have a clue how or where to target them.

Depending on the weather leading up to opener, fresh run fish may abound.

Who doesn't love watching Spring rainbows leap up waterfalls and fish ladders as they migrate upstream.
