Hi Fellow Anglers,

I am part of a team of MBA students attempting to design a new portable, standing fillet table. I'm hoping to gauge your general interest in the table and any suggestions that you might have would be greatly appreciated.

Here is a brief description of the product: A fillet board attached to a telescopic tripod. The table can therefore be placed on uneven surfaces and can be folded to a small size, making it extremely portable.

Our main inspiration for this product concept was the common practice for anglers to bend over rocks to fillet fish. Furthermore, for those anglers who fish mostly recreationally or do not live on a lake, they don't often own a large filleting table. We would greatly appreciate hearing your thoughts on this concept and whether or not you might ever use a product like this.

Thank you so much!

Seems like an unecessary product to me. Most guys just gut their fish on the river and then do the filleting at home. It would be one extra thing that you would have to carry so it would probably create more work rather than reduce it.

I've never kept a fish I caught, but I might use a table if I did...

They already sell fillet boards, with clamps, that you can take anywhere with you to clean fish.

I'm not sure I've ever seen a fillet table at a tackle shop, but then again I haven't really looked. I suppose there could be a market, for fillet specific tables, for people who would like to have a table designated for fish cleaning at their cottage or home. You would basically have to design a fish cleaning station in a table, that comes with all the typical features of a cleaning station and you just put up and start using with minimal set up required.

I do have some ideas that your professor would love, but they are currently being developed. I've already said too much Posted Image

Have to agree with Spin. We are anglers some catch and release some take home. But I'd say the majority C&R. You need to market to fishing guides where they make shore lunches for their customers. A pro guide will already have the skills to fillet on the shore with either a simple board, or the deck of the boat. I can make one for myself for $10 so I don't need to buy one.

Better luck with something else.
