The best video on that site is the one where the two girls are testing two augers and right before they fire up the augers they say "we are about to get our holes drilled" lol

I think cooks bay makes the most sense for an OFF ice meet. Lots of action and they can get away with using a spool of 4lb mono and hand bombing the fish if they really need to.

We can always do two outings, one up north before we can get ontop of simcoe lakers and then simcoe for lakers nd whities, driving an hour+ to catch perch doesnt seem worth it IMO, if it doesnt pull drag or fights like a snag why bother?. The further north we go the sooner we can get on the ice and we will see hundreds of less anglers as opposed to simcoes ice cities in cooks and kemp. Depending on how far you guys are down to go north we could get be on the ice now! haha

oh come on, panfishing is a rush!

I dont mind going for lakers and whities as ill have all of the proper gear by then but alot of people will be in the spot I was last year when they realize they brought a rod with 70 feet of line to fish for lakers in 90 ft of water...lol

Panfish is fun when the beers are flowin. Good to have a good ol' friendly competion of most jumbos caught and biggest jumbo. But im sure some of us wouldnt mind learning from some vets on how to find and target lakers.

Had a busy farking week, I need some sleep before I can think again, at which point I will pick date(s) and location(s). I was up north for a few days, a lot of rivers and lakes were frozen, but I still saw open water too.

Sounds like fun. I'd much prefer lakers to perch though. Any splake/specks in Haliburton?

I dont care what we go for. Panfish is fun, but something big would be cool too.

The only suggestion i have for you is to pray for the ice to form so we can go catch some lakers and you can try out your new gears

Couldn't ask for better temps for ice formation, so hopefully we can make this happen soon!

I will have some time for planning over the next couple days and will post an update with tentative date(s).

I have to do some research this week on MNR stocking lists to determine which lake(s), if any, would make for a great laker outing not too far out of the way. Still considering Simcoe, but I need to check out what's happening ice-wise over there as well as in Haliburton, Muskoka and Kawarthas. I am hoping to find a good spot for lakers, I already have some in mind and if anyone has any suggestions feel free to post or PM me. I would prefer genuine lakers over splake.

By the look of Cooks Bay right now, Lake Simcoe's deep water might not be ready until February.
