I went. Really wasn't impressed with the show.
There was almost zero ice fishing gear. I didn't expect there to be much but there was nothing

i found the show noticeably smaller, missing shimano was a big one, but the fly hall was good, just need to expand on it a bit more, ended up with 70 new flies from reel flies

woulda taken you up on the offer to cast the amundson gear CC but my fly casting technique needs some...well work

I didn't go to the show but my buddy told me that moving the date to earlier in the year (which also coincided with the Calgary show) spread their company's manpower and exhibit a little thin. No idea if this is true for other vendors but it might be a reason why some people were not satisfied?

Same old NASCAR folks...dressed in the same old Izumi clothing...talking the same old stuff about dipsy divers et al. notwithstanding the float rot etc....I think it's indicative of our current economic climate, and the customer (justifiably) wanting more (or even the same) for less.

Don't jive me anymore with spin time etc.

Some good stuff and seminars though.

A: Yup, going out on a $35000 bass boat certainly does make a NASCAR type statement

B: Tough times here but not so much in CGY who also happened to have their show that wknd so I have theories about which venue people put their "A" effort in to...

I spent more on food(can't resist junk food once in a while) and shooting some arrows(helps support my daughters club) than I did on gear. I just bought some flies and a fly box. Fire alarm messed a few people's days up I'm sure. I always hate when I see something (like the RV9 for $299) cheaper than my purchase price so if I'm not shopping I'm not browsing.

i was lucky enough to have some vendor passes given to me from a a friend that worked the show--15 dollars parking--a very costly hot dog with an even more expensive water--was all balanced out by some great casting wisdom and a cool little gadget from amundsen--maybe even a new friend to fish with. spent time with the girl--saw some cool lodges to go to this summer all in all better than sitting at home.
