We lost the functionality in the last software upgrade, but while working on the new front page, I found a way of bringing it back. It helps to quickly see new activity in the forum. 

 

We also have a new Gallery app that makes it easy to upload and share pictures. You can access it here:

Yeah, you could always use 'view new content' link, but the 'Recent Posts' is right there on the right hand side on the forum index page.
