FYI I got the same boots and love them to hell. No more trying to tie laces or stumbling to tighten them on the river plus as a bonus one quick click and there off. I no longer wear the guide boots as a result.

 

Just keep an eye on your boots particularly around the black trim-toe box area.  If you look at my pics for the review, the stitching starts to break and the black trim begins to crack.  I like the boots and the BOA but they did not last nor were they as durable as what I was expecting for a $200+ wading boot. 

 

Also if you have not already done so, order a replacement set of the BOA laces and dials immediately so you have a backup pair.  I did not and had to wait 2 weeks for my replacements to arrive during the peak salmon and start of steelhead season.

Finally arrived, the Simms replacement wading boots for my Rivertek-BOA. 

 

 

WAIT, those are NOT Rivertek's!!! When I got the email from Simms informing me that they will be replacing the Riverteks under warranty, I emailed back asking if I can pay the difference in price to get the Guide boots instead because of my concerns with having similar Rivertek issues in the future. 

 

Not a reply back from Simms while I waited for the replacements.  Arriving today and was expecting to see my new Rivertek-BOA but to my pleasant surprise, Simms shipped me the Guide boots instead.  What's even more amazing was that Simms decided to upgrade my wading boots to the Guides for FREE!!!

 

Thank-you Simms for the great customer / warranty service and complimentary upgrade.  You can trust that I am a satisfied and definitely loyal customer to your brand.

you will like those boots ed. my cousin has the same pair does nothing but prise them all the time   remids me i gotta send in my waiders for a repair as well, finally after 5 years of heavy fishing i found a tear on my left leg. tried patching it didnt seem to hold up. hopfully they can't fix it as well so i get a new pair

When I'm on the river the only things on my body that aren't Simms are my boots and that's just because my Korkers Chrome were a gift from my wife and I think they're a great boot, I was a little worried at first about the interchangeable soles but they seem to be putting up with my abuse....and they don't look goofy  , but when they wear out I might just have to complete my Simms ensemble   

 

HEY, nothing to complain about it it's free or a gift!  Had my eyes on the Korkers if Simms did not come through with my warranty claim.  Curious though on a long-term product review, say after 150+ days in the river? 

 

TIP: don't forget to order extra BOA laces and dials from http://www.boatechno...sumers/overview directly as spares. 

 

Now that my warranty replacement was upgraded to the Guide boots, I now have extra spare laces/dials for the Riverteks.

Thanks FD.  Looking at the boots, they appear to lack the stitching and black faux-leather trim near the toe-box area that the Riverteks had.  This was where the boots failed and Simms warraantied for a free replacement. 

 

A tear in your Simms? Must be from landing those 10+ pound bows that I see you catching!

Yeh expect the Guides to wet up and get heavier than the Riverteks because of the leather uppers.  If the Guides came with the BOA, that would be the ultimate ideal boot.  I found the Riverteks nice and light for long treks but wading in fast water, they became too light.  Hopefully the Guides will give me better footing in these conditions. 

 

I will have to get back to you on the laces and dials.  I did promise them to one of my buddies who I convinced to buy the Riverteks.  After he saw the condition of mine after 150+ days, he was concerned.  If he ordered a spare set from BOA, than what I have left is yours which I believe are 4 laces and 2 new dials.

Hey buck, yes always change the dials when you change the laces.  It's the teeth on the dials that affects the ratcheting while you tighten the boots. 

 

The teeth on the dials tend to wear out and you will notice this when if feels like the laces are slipping and the boots are getting loose. 

 

Ordering directly from BOA Tech, the laces and dials are free for the life of your BOA system.  Hence my tip to always replace both dials/laces at the start of the season and also order a spare set too just in case you have a lace blow-out mid-season. 

 

Go to this website and under <Support><Consumer> click on <Redeem Guarantee>. Fill out the info, choose the correct BOA dial system and laces.  Prices will show up in your <Shopping Basket> but when you check-out, the prices will zero-out so you get the order for free.  Order a new set every year so you will have spares.

Well finally got around to ordering some laces and tension knobs for my boa system. Was surprised how quick it arrived, now I'm ready for this season atom in the rivers.
