I'm wondering what to buy for tackle when the salmon start running in the rivers to spawn? Any suggestion is a good suggestion! Thanks

Centerpin setup would work and is the best setup for steelhead. Maybe a spinning rod with a 9-13' float rod or one for spoon casting from piers. At least 15 lb test for pier fishing or at least 10lb test in the stream.

Pins are kinda tricky for begginers ( me )  so i would suggest a 10ft spinning combo with a good 4000 size reel,  so it could double for a pier rod and a stream rod, pm if you have questions

All you need is these.

(not srs)

But roe, beads, big colourful flies, yarn will work best.

yup the new snag-o-matic lol i use a 7ft rod, most guys here will say for tribs to use atleast 10ft or so but the creeks i fish are like 10ft accross lol so i use a 7ft. My line is 30lb braid with a 4ft leader of 20lb mono. Tie on a float with a sinle micro barb hook of size 6 or smaller and some online weights, you can head on down to a tackle store or make your own roe bags and tie them on and you should be good to go

wooly bugger, pink yarn, pink or red vibrax #3 or #4...if you can replace the treble with a single hook(in the package) your landing chances are better. 10 - 12lb mono will do just fine.

rubbers are just as good but you need something that sinks fast. when stampede begins you want your lure in the strike zone and visible. glowing lures work best.

Large Grappling Hook. Very very strong rod, 200 lb braid.

Whack em' in the side when they swim by... very effective.

i use snag trebles on a boat or shore to snag peanut bunker.  a baitfish in the US waters.   then liveline that baitfish back on for bass.
stout rod, 6'-7' H or XH power. slow action.   50lb braid on a 30 size conventional reel.   works best.

cast out, count to 5 after it hits water.. then burn them darn thing back with long sweeps on rod.

will catch anything it hits.    if this wasnt illegal up here, i would hit fish this way.
instead of MINDLESSLY casting a lure for hours hoping to hook up.  $@#(&%@)(~~!!

i havent been on such a long skunk streak since the time i STOPPED fishing during my high school years.

at least 10 pound line in the tribs? LOL most float rods arent even designed for line over 10 pounds, 6-8 is all you need

This is SALMON bro. He said salmon not steelhead. Sure that's on the heavy side for steel, but for salmon at LEAST 10 lb test.
