Just wondering what brand of leader everyone uses. I'm fairly new to float fishing (~ 1 year) and have always been using Drennan, 6lb for salmon, 4lb for steelhead. Any other suggestions on brands?

i use mono so i just my mainline, im using spiderwire 14lb

i like to get the salmon in quick for a quick release

i only use seaguar premier #20,#60,#80,and #130.
will use the regular blue label in a pinch.

Salmon 6 or 8 SEAGUAR INVIZX not a leader material but it is fluorocarbon and that makes it the same

 

Steelhead 4 or 6 SEAGUAR BLUE LABEL

Why spoil a good thing...you've chosen a "go-to" brand by most here, without the pain of experimenting with sub-par products...good on ya

for salmon i use 6LB Pline fluorocarbon bulk spoon.  18 dollars for 250 yards. cant beat that , especially for salmon.  And for bows i use 4-5lb drennan.

I keep breaking of my salmon on 6 lb line but I guess cuz im using a seven ft rod

My go-to brand for fluorocarbon has always been Seaguar, but it sounds like Drennan may be something worth trying.

Drennan. 8lb for Salmon, 6lb for steelhead.

Stick with the Drennan.

Don't know why ppl are so gung ho about drennan. Their 8lb fluro leader line is .11inch in diamtere...vs .008 for seaguar abrazx...which withheld 6 20lb+ salmon in a single day....just saying

Ive been using Seaguar Abrazex for a while, its great on the wallet and i bend open hooks so I know its strong. Also used the 10# Seaguar Blue Label for salmon this year and its been amazing so far. I'm also a big fan of Drennan but the important thing to note with Drennan is 4# is really 6# and 6# is 8#. Its just a genius marketing ploy by them to under rate the line strength. People will say that they use 4# drennan and never break fish off....well that's because they are really using 6#. Drennan is great, but don't be fooled! lol

Seaguar is good stuff...8# for chinnies...6# for steel

Drennan is also good from what I hear....

I've always used the Seaguar and never had any problems with it, so I've never had to switch...
