Did you all know that it is a CRIME, like legal action can be taken against you for taking pictures/video of people without notice?
Crime involved or not?
This is why when you go into stores that use survielence cameras they will ALWAYS have a sign saying you are on video or CCTV in use.
You will find yourself in alot more trouble and the evidence is INADMISABLE into any kind of evidence.

Educate yourselves, take pictures of thier car, licence plate, time stamps, gps locations ect.

So upsetting to read over and over again.
100% YOU CANNOT INVADE PEOPLES PRIVACY BY TAKING PICTURES OF PEOPLE WITHOUT NOTIFIYING THEM

Did you know that you couldn't be anymore wrong? It is NOT illegal to take someone's picture without notifying them. Say you're at Canada's wonderland, or on vacation somewhere. Do you need a bullhorn and notify all the thousands of people you may be commiting a crime against? Think back just a short time ago. A certain young man was shot several times then tazered by the POLICE. Is that video in admissible in court? No. It's one of the strongest and most damning pieces of EVIDENCE. I suggest you educate yourself before making preposterous statements. Snap away. You can take anyone's picture, anywhere you like as long as you don't make money off the image without their permission.

I'm not only disgusted with the actions I've seen on the rivers during the annual salmon run, but by the ignorance of many who post on these boards. Fishing is a sport, not a slaughter. There are right ways to go about it and wrong ways. Despite what the law says, or what the MNR can, or chooses to do, things will not improve unless fishers begin policing themselves. I don't mean doing stupid shut like trying to arrest an unruly mob, but there are way to discourage illegal or unsporting practices like snagging, netting, etc.

As far a taking photos or video is concerned there ARE NO LAWS IN ONTARIO ABOUT DOCUMENTING PEOPLE IN A PUBLIC SPACE. But please be smart about what you are doing so you don't put yourself in jeopardy.

Seriously people. Back one another a far as good habits are concerned and discourage the bad where you can. And if everybody could pick up their own trash it would look a lot better as well.

gazjs has a point. Almost everyone who fishes small tributaries for salmon is flossing/snagging anyway. Some of these guys will come online and talk about how many hookups they had the other day, when deep down they probably know these fish weren't biting, haha. The reality is, once upstream, salmon can be much harder to induce a strike from than migratory trout, so are these guys with all the right gear who are hooking up with 30 salmon a day drifting just single eggs on long leaders really supposed to be legit? heck no man.

I guess the point I'm trying to make here is, there's no need to get yourself all worked up over a bunch of guys snagging salmon :). It's a great lakes tradition.

I think it is. Says so in the "GENERAL PROHIBITIONS – IT IS ILLEGAL TO:" section. I asked a CO about snagging and he also confirmed that it is illegal to intentionally snag fish.

I agree with your Statement. However your Link takes you to all the Info about a "Recreational Fishing License".

NOT Critisising! Just a Point Of Clarification.

Thanks: Rick

agreed. well said

However, blatant disregard for wildlife and environment decency should be reported. Id would be a great idea to approach people who are doing things wrong and "educate" them on it....if we lived in a perfect world.

I would never confront a guy or especially more than one guy alone, in the middle of a river, in a forest...EVER!

These people have knives on them, (so do I) and you never know how it can go, especially when you start making threats about you calling the authorities on them. Why do you think the MNR officers hold guns on them? Hunter and fishermen are technically "armed" and can become very dangerous when your alone in the middle of no where. Taking a picture would suffice, from a safe distance, or better yet, call the MNR and ask them "here is what I am seeing, whats the best thing for me to do in this situation ?"

Let the proper authorities handle these matters.

I stand corrected.

InCanada, you can film anyone in public as long as you are on public property

I apologize. I mis-read my materials earlier. I was looking into the Private property act.

this...last year one guy can't help himself and ask me why everytime a salmon comes close to my worm i move it away all the while he's been "hooking" 2 salmons every minute...using the legendary mallows...I hooked one brown...packed up...i was a happy man...went home and cried myself to sleep about my wonderful outing (1 brown). Believe me this topic will never end. We will be in the same state same time next year ranting about what's going on in the river and the loogans will, unfortunately, not let us down...

Me Again!

I've Downloaded & "Dissected" ALL of the 2013 Regs. 2 are below for Zone 16. Perhaps it will help to clear up some of the points that I'm Reading here.

Further to "usernameher's" Link. The actual Page Referred to is one of them. "PROHIBITIONS - IT IS ILLEGAL TO". The Points that appear to/are being discussed here, I've Underlined the first few words in Red.

The other one is a "Just In Case You Aren't Aware" type of thing. It's "EXCEPTIONS TO ZONE 16 REGULATIONS". It's about which bodies of water are Closed, When & Why..

NOTE: This is only One Page of The Exceptions. There are More "Exceptions" As is the case for ALL Zones.

Hope it's of some Help.

Rick

That's probably because MNR does that with their Zapper Nets.

However they did say "No Dynamite Or Explosives"

When fishing for salmon in the rivers, how do you prevent snagging?

Lets say your drifting your float towards  3-5 salmon, do you want your float to stay in front of them so one will come out and strike it?

or do you want your float to drift past them and then reel and try again?

Whats the right way to drift fish for salmon?

Whats up with these marshmallows?  Are they a bad bait to use for salmon?

I dont get it.

Sorry for all these question, im new to the river salmon scene.

fish for salmon with the same presentation as steelhead, fish deep pools and just let it drift through. Dont worry about trying to drift it into a specific salmon. People just use marshmallows when they fish off bottom because they float and the salmon run into it, up to you but I would suggest against this. Although I have heard of other species being caught off of garlic mushrooms, doesnt surprise me since some fish will hit anything that stinks but that is not the case with salmon.

If you want a real rush take a 8-9' rod and a reel with at least 200 yards of line to the pier and cast glow spoons into the lake at night.

I'm not exactly sure what your Point is "Rainbow". However .......

If it has to do with the fact that the Regs are somewhat Confusing when it comes to using a Spear or Bow & Arrow. It MIGHT appear that way.

In another Section they State what Bodies Of Water are Open and The Dates when it's Permitted to use a Spear, Bow & Arrow, and Nets along with the Species Of Fish. (That's "Page 11" As Below)

It would appear to depend on What Species Of Fish That Your "Angling" For.

In the Regs I Posted before, that you quoted  a sentence from. next sentence down, they say to Refer to "Page 11" to Clarify The Use of "Other Angling Methods" (My Words)

I just went into my MNR Fish Reg Files and found Page 11. I would appear to Clarify The Situation.

I Also Chopped Out, Enlarged,  & Cleaned Up as Best I Could, The Section that we are referring to here, so that it's All In One Place For Reference.

X2. It is the best shore salmon fishing you will ever experience. The best thing is, you know each fish on is hooked legit. Such raw power..... chrome..... $6.99 a moonshine lure.

With all the poor behaviour that I witnessed this fall. I think next year I'm only gonna be pier fishing until the steelhead runs.
