I honestly used to only use TroKar hooks, but I realized now that I am working part time and in school, spending 20 bucks on hooks is not the smartest thing aha. I mean they really are the sharpest hooks and I have had way more success as this season as proven for me, but the gamakatsu hooks OR Owner hooks are good. Even the big pack of BPS hooks are great for fishing for fun.

OT -

trokar arent that good IMO and overpriced.    the tips roll over too easily.
nothing beats owners cutting point hooks. durability and sheer penetrating hookset power from them is unrivaled from my experiences.

especially the Aki hooks, which i use alot.  will punch through 1" thick fish lips easily.
ive also use owner hooks SSW tournament inline circles on my surf fishing rigs thats been in used for 10 outings are still sharp as chit no rust.

Well Maybe.  Still need some tubes/shanks but I will straighten out a hook and cut it to start with on the first few.  Going to do some Popsicles as well.

What # test line are you using?

It sounds like you are putting too much pressure while fighting the fish...

If you put enough pressure on any size 10 hook, it will straighten out...

I have 15lb braid + 10lb flurocarbon.  I guess you're right about the drag.  I didnt adjust the drag on my first hookset.

yep personally I don't use name brand hooks and ive never really straightened out a hook on a fish its all about having ur drag set properly that way u don't really need heavy line and also ur hook won't receive as much pressure by letting the fish run a bit.

I'll set the drag properly and try my luck tomorrow.

Thanks guys.

No story. Just found them all for a good price. US seller wouldnt ship into canada so I shipped them home. Figured since im gonna be here a few weeks. Why not :D

Anyone casting from shore will eventually lose lures. So I bought more. And I could probably hook some guys up for a good price if they want it. Those krocs retail here for 12 $ each!

Instapump, are you using those roe bags for the river? If you are, it's better to not use the styrofoam balls in the sacks. I use floating sacks for piers and sinking sacks for rivers. If you already knew this, please disregard my post :)

I didnt know that. My intention was to fish these eggs in the river.

I was gonna ask whats the egg to styrofoam ratio for making sacks.

When I did try them in the river they floated too much for my liking.  I had to make a longer leader with weights to keep the eggs down.

If I were to fish these eggs in the pier, what rig would I use?  Im assuming a bottom bouncing rig so the eggs float above the bottom?

If you use a short drop shot setup you could use it for river fishing
