ROFL!! This had me howling because yes, I have done the same thing....minus someone walking up on me while in my gitch! LOL! It was my favorite lure, and as somebody mentioned...it's not the $$$ that's at stake...it's the principal!

Well, if it was my LUCKY lure I'd go to great lengths but if it was just an ordinary one that I didn't think I was going to catch a fish on, then I wouldn't bother!!   :D

I dont use many lures, even ones I am attached to I make sure they stay in my tackle box.

But I can tell you I have gone to lengths to get floats back. Now I keep a 15' rachet strap in my vest. This year during the trout opener I lost about 5 floats to one tree. I couldnt leave the spot it was the perfect pool, right depth, perfect water flow. and a nice spot to land or beach fish.

After a whole day of fishing, my wife and freinds began preparing dinner.

The floats were still bothering me. I got one of my friends to come with me, with the 15' strap I was able to throw it up and wrap or hook branches we retrived all 5 floats and a couple of other's floats.

Never leave home without it now!

This year ice out. Had to fight a swan to keep my favorite plug. They are vicious.

not just a lure

last summer we were channel cat fishing in a big deep canal, it was a slow night so our guards were down and most of the rods were just laying they're without the drag being set. all of a sudden i see my friends rod start moving " greg, greg greg your rod" he's in total lah lah land texting, finally looks back only to see his 150 dollar rod get pulled straight in the water. my other friend suggest's that a same thing happened to a friend of his and he just dove down and the rod was right there, i also told him that the river wasnt that deep and you could probably touch bottom *dumbass*) so he debates about it for a few minutes clearly showing that hes afraid to jump in, he finally decides to go for the plunge, only to find a face full of see weed and no rod to show for it!

set your drag haha....
